Technical Visit to Thessaly Dams

On the occasion of the 3rd Hellenic Conference on Dams and Reservoirs, a two day technical visit to three dams in the region of Thessaly in central Greece is scheduled for the 14th and 15th of October 2017, with an overnight stay at Kalambaka.

The three Dams are; 1) the Arch Dam of Tavropos (unique of its kind in Greece) with its spectacular Plastiras Reservoir, 2) the 100m high Rockfill Dam of Smokovo and 3) the mixed type (Hardfill and Darthfill) Dam of Lithaios currently under construction. An overnight stay at the city of Kalambaka (near Meteora) is scheduled. Also, a visit at the rare geological, aesthetic, religious and cultural site of Meteora Rocks is included.
